This summer, I had the opportunity to work at very unique company where I had an interesting digital PR experience. For our classes homework assignment we were asked to speak with a former employer who can answer questions about a digital PR situation they have faced. I decided to sit down with my boss Josh Miller (Sales and Marketing Director) from CTL Global, inc., to ask him a few questions about CTL’s new jump into online social media.

To give a brief background of CTL Global here is a statement from their website:

What is the situation facing the organization?

The situation being faced is CTL lack of presence on the internet. 

What is the background of the situation?

CTL Global is a 32 year old company that has never had its’ own sales team. With the development of online social media devices CTL can take advantage of many of the digital PR opportunities.

What is the significance or importance of the situation?

CTL Global just rebranded and “relaunched” a new business plan. The importance of their online presence is extremely important to their image. Using sites such as facebook and twitter can be utilized as customer service outlets.

Is this the first time this organization has faced this issue?

This is the first time CTL has faced this situation. In fact, CTL has never had a sales team until this summer. They are looking to expand and help spread the awareness of how CTL Global solutions can help you.

Does this situation involve the organization’s relationship with another group?

This experience does not directly involve any other companies to develop these products. Blue Chip Marketing will be developing the online pages on behalf of CTL. Sites like facebook, twitter, youtube, foursquare, etc. will be used in the process.

What is the likely duration of this situation, limited/short term/on going/or long term?

CTL Global is working with their ad agency to help develop these PR opportunities. Blue Chip Marketing WorldWide has a 4 month timeline to develop these products. They plan on creating a facebook, twitter, foursquare, youtube channel, and more to help start their online presence.

What potential impact can this situation make on the organization’s mission or bottom line?

Josh seemed enthusiastic about the opportunity to improve the online digital PR presence. They will be working with their advertising agency, Blue Chip Marketing WorldWide, to help develop various online social platforms.

How can this situation be resolved to mutual benefit of everyone?

Even though CTL Global is not the standard company to promote through mainstream online sites, according to Josh “it is better to have the sites running, then them not existing at all.”

How strong is the organization’s commitment to resolving this situation?

According to Josh, CTL is extremely committed to resolving the issue of having an online digital presence. Implementing better online presence can improve sales and our image for clients. CTL plans on working on the various mainstream social media platforms.
